Gold-plated jewelry is sensitive to humidity and friction. To preserve its shine, dry it gently with a soft cloth and a touch of talcum powder if it comes into contact with water. This helps absorb moisture even in the fine details of the piece.
For deeper cleaning, a soft cloth lightly dampened with 90° alcohol is enough to revive the finish. This method should be avoided on pearls, whose delicate surface may be damaged.
Silver-plated jewelry naturally reacts to air. A piece may darken even if it is rarely worn.
This is a natural process—even solid silver oxidizes. To revive the finish, gently rub the surface with a polishing cloth, a slightly abrasive fabric designed for this purpose. This can be done occasionally, with moderation, to avoid thinning the silver layer. Wearing your jewelry regularly also helps limit oxidation.
Vermeil is a precious metal: 925 sterling silver coated with 24-carat fine gold. Its composition gives it strong durability over time, making it suitable for everyday wear without the need to remove it systematically.
That said, it is still a plating. By giving it the same care as gilded jewelry, you can extend the quality of its finish.
925 silver is a precious metal that can be worn daily without damaging its shine. In fact, wearing silver regularly is recommended to help prevent its natural oxidation process.
If your piece does oxidize, simply rub it dry with a polishing cloth to restore its full brilliance.
Taking care of your jewelry means extending what has been crafted with care. It is choosing a pace guided by time and transmission. Our restoration service is part of this continuity.
